About Us

To contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society.

Note from the Commissioner

For those who do not know me my name is Claire, i have been a member of 4th Squamish scouts since 2012.
I decided to join as a scouter because my husband had already joined and he told me about all the amazing trips and activities that he did with the sections and our sons.
I finally decided to join when my youngest was in cubs.
Ive always been quite a shy reserved person so i was content to hide in the shadows of other Scouters. I just enjoy seeing people happy and having fun.
As the years go by i have watched the youth grow into confident, independent, well rounded members of the community . . .exactly the vision that Lord Baden powell had back in 1907 when he began his very first camp on Brownsea Island, this was his wish and watching our little group succeed and grow in so many ways, plan amazing trips, adventures and achieve awards i think he would have been so proud of all of us. I decided to take on the Group Commissioner role because my own wish is for our group to continue to grow and continue to create many many great memories for these youth while at the same time learning new skills in a safe environment.
It is important to all of us that your youth has the best programme possible, we want to hear from the youth about new ideas and ways for this to be achieved because it is not about us, its about them.
Talk to your youth about what they would like to do or where they would like to go and we will do our best to make it happen.
If you would like to spend more time with your child while enjoying the outdoors at the same time, Scouting is a great opportunity for that and we welcome you anytime.

Kind regards

Claire Stubley
